We feel so strongly about the dangerous product falsely labeled black henna that we have dedicated a page to raise awareness.

We are seeing a steady stream of inquiries asking if we do black henna and the answer is always the same - NO! We don't use, offer or advocate the use of black henna because pure henna is never black and black henna is not really henna. Many unscrupulous henna artists use chemical hair dye in a cone or add hair dye to henna paste to give the blackish color of permanent tattoos.

Black henna is not a natural product. It contains an artificial mutagenic chemical called Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) which can cause sensitivities ranging from itching to scarring, and even potentially death.

Though we have been offered double the asking rate to apply black henna by some clients, we are not stupid or greedy enough to jeopardize someone's life or health.
